What's happening now on Turnalt Farm

March 2002

General

The poor weather at the start of the year improved quite a bit during March, this allowed more progress to be made with the work to be done on the farm.

Sheep

More mineral blocks for the sheep were put out on all the hills during March. Towards the end of the month, all the hills were gathered and the sheep dozed and dipped and hoggs tagged.

Cattle

The main job is still the daily feeding of the cattle in the sheds and the few on the hill. Calves continued to be born throughout the month.

Crops

With the weather improving slightly, March saw several trailer loads of Turnips harvested. Alasdair also began manure spreading the fields in late March.
