What's happening now on Turnalt Farm

January 2001

Sheep

Again things have been busy in the sheep department over the last month with some older ewes and the last of the lambs having been sold.

The tupping season is now over and all the tups are back in from the hills. The sheep from all the hills have been gathered and given a preventative doze for Fluke, a liver disease.

Cattle

There has not been much happening with the cattle over the last month. Just the daily task of feeding them in the shed and at the foot of the hill.

The photo below shows some of the hill cattle enjoying some winter sunshine.

Crops

Again things have been quiet in the crops department, at this time of year there is not much to do to the crops. There is still some potatoe sorting being done in the shed. The heavy fall of snow at christmas and the constant hard frost has delayed the turnip harvesting and that will be completed when the weather improves and the ground thaws out.
