The Sheep

The lambing has finished now and so has the gathering and marking of the lambs. Also just finished is the clipping (shearing) of the hoggs (1 year old sheep) and the ewes that did not have lambs. The next job with be gathering again, this time for clipping ewes that have had lambs, this will take place in late July.

The Cattle

All of the spring calving cows have have now calved. The half of the herd with the youngest calves have now gone to the hills for the summer and the rest are staying on the lowground. As you can see we now have a picture of one of the Limousin bulls, this is as close as our intrepid photographer dared go!

The Crops

The Potatoes, hay and silage are growing well and the Turnips have been thinned, as you can see from the picture below, using the traditional method.
